Description

Conventional Continuous Air Monitors collect particles/aerosols of all sizes an gross activity is measured in regular time intervals. Normal air flow is between 50 and 100 LPM.
The Spot Air Monitor is designed to collect only a specific size of particle or aerosol at a suction flow rate upto 1 M3/min. This is achieved by employing a highspeed high flow rate suction pump and an impactor for a specific particle size. The filter diameter is 15 mm. The activity deposited on the filter paper is measured in situ for alpha, beta radiations depending upon the type of detector used. The scintillation detector could be ZnS, plastic or composite coupled to a PMT of dia. 1” to 2”.
The Unit, as shown in Fig. 1, is mounted on a trolley with wheels to take it around where radiations are expected. Fig.2 shows Three Station Carousel. Air Suction Station, Detector Station and the third is “Next Filter” Station.
